San Diego’s 10 Best Taco Shops & Mexican Fast Food (5 to 1)
5. Mauricio’s Mexican Food. 3200 Adams Avenue, Normal Heights. Mexican home cooked food just like my Mexican friend’s grandmother makes. Highlights include all the breakfast burritos and my favorite, caldo de res, a Mexican style beef stew with hardy vegetables.
4. Super Cocina. 3627 University Ave, Normal Heights. Try some southern Mexican food here instead of the typical Tijuana style Mexican restaurants found all over San Diego. You do not come across southern Mexican cuisine often in San Diego, especially a place this good with low prices. Good homestyle southern Mexican food. Tell them to make it nice and hot for you.
3. Las Cuatro Milpas. 1875 Logan Avenue, Barrio Logan. A well known Mexican restaurant famous for their authentic tacos that has been in business 70+ years. Lunch lines can be huge as people drive from miles around to eat here. Parking can be hard to find so expect a few block walk. Prices are cheap and the food is heavy.
2. Tacos El Gordo. 689 H Street, Chula Vista. The pork adobada tacos are the bomb and cost less than 2 dollars each. No need to look at the menu, trust me. Also sell other types and meat cuts for tacos including face meat which is delicious and tongue meat. Try them, you only live once. Other Tacos El Gordo exist but this one is the best hands down.
1. Marisco’s German Taco Truck 3. 3504 University Avenue, Normal Heights. Yes this is actually a food truck. They serve the best fish tacos around at $1 a piece. Maricso’s offers many types of fresh seafood including fish, garlic shrimp, smoked marlin, scallops, octopus, and more. They have several varieties of ceviche and it is excellent as well. Best Mexican seafood in San Diego. Except to wait in line because this is the most well known and popular food truck in SD.
