San Diego’s 10 Best Meals (all price ranges)
5. Sushi Ota. Japanese/Sushi Bar, 4529 Mission Bay Drive, Pacific Beach. The most authentic sushi and sashimi in San Diego. The prices are not out-of-this-world like most sushi bars. Driving up to the sushi bar you will be surprised as it is located in a strip mall around car dealerships. Ask for the sushi chefs recommendation menu and you will be sure to get the best of the best. The sashimi melts in your mouth and never disappoints. Slightly higher prices, but a must go-to for any fish lover.
4. Rei Do Gado. Brazilian Steakhouse, 939 4th Avenue, Gaslamp, Downtown. The best buffet in San Diego, they feature Brazilian Rotisserie BBQ, usually around 10 different kinds along with a good salad bar with fresh food. Servers come to your table with different pieces of meat, and cut you a piece if desired. Don’t pass out eating too much filet mignon wrapped in bacon, beer marinated sausages, ribs, chicken, or lamb. Top of the line marinated BBQ meat. A quality restaurant with high prices, a piano bar on the weekends, and truly quiet an experience, especially for meat lovers. Lunch buffet prices are significantly lower than dinner so come then if you are on a budget.
3. Hash House A Go Go. American, 3628 5th Avenue, Hillcrest. A popular breakfast, lunch and dinner destination in Hillcrest. Where do you begin when you look over the menu at Hash House A Go Go? The menus are large, and the plates are even larger. Recommend Andy’s Sage Fried Chicken Benedict with maple reduction, eggs, bacon mashed potatoes & biscuit for breakfast. The place is trendy, prices are slightly higher, but the food is fantastic and never disappoints. The only disappointing thing about Hash House A Go Go are the long waits to get a table, especially for breakfast on the weekends.
2. Cucina Urbana. Italian/Mediterranean, 505 Laurel Street, Banker’s Hill. Right outside of downtown San Diego and Balboa Park, a modern Italian and Mediterranean restaurant and wine bar. True urban and modern decor. The food is fantastic, each entree is $20 and under and the appetizers are superb. Highly recommend the squash blossoms with feta cheese as an appetizer and the rabbit pasta as an entree. The food is exquisite for the food lover. A popular drink and dinner location, so we suggest you make reservations. Best meal in San Diego for the price.
1. Phil’s BBQ. BBQ, 3750 Sports Arena Blvd, Midway. Hands down the best BBQ in San Diego. Phil’s BBQ pork ribs and sauce are worth a half hour wait. The meat always tender and juicy, the sauce sweet yet tangy make this the best meal in San Diego. Also recommend their beer battered onion rings. Ask for extra BBQ sauce to dip your rings or fries. Phone order to go or expect a wait, as lines tend to go around the building.

All of the meals you featured here sound really delicious. I hope I can go to one of those restaurants when I visit SD for my conference in May.
