I’m really sorry, but you’re on your own for listings for now. I’m kinda on restriction right now, so I have to do the family thing. I gave in and paid the $12.95 for 24 hours of internet, but only because it’s making me look like I’m doing something very important and make my parents forget how mad at me they are at the moment. Last night I went out, stayed out way too late, met some people (from Queens, Ireland, and Boston), we hung out, drank, gambled, and I crashed in their room with my cell on silent. Needless to say, if my dad had an actual heart attack this morning, it would’ve been on me forever. I had 25 missed calls on my phone. Yikes. So, I guess no staying in the room today. I’m being punished with Circus Circus.

Here’s a summary….

We’re switching hotels today; leaving downtown and heading to the Strip, so I don’t know what my wi-fi situation will be but I’ll do my best to get listings up this week. I was hoping to take this week to catch up on emails, load all those digital downloads up to my iTunes, and some general blogger housekeeping, but unfortunately that hasn’t happened. I did use all of Sunday to read The Gum Thief by Douglas Coupland while my family did their thing, so at least I accomplished something I set out to do while I was here. Vegas isn’t very relaxing. Did I mention I’m in a room with my parents, my sister, my Godsister and my niece?? I miss my bed. Also, it was 108 here yesterday so I didn’t even dare go outside. I’m such a wuss.

Checking In From Vegas

I just arrived in Vegas and it’s just the same as the last time I left it. We rented a PT Cruiser and I decided I would never buy one. I’m way too short for it to be a comfortable drive. My parents drove separately, and I had my sister, God-sister, and niece in the car. This meant many stops and a longer than usual drive. Fortunately it has a CD player and aux plugin for the iPod, so we had a good soundtrack for the 6+ hour drive. It was a good opportunity to listen to CDs in full:

Augustana- I still had the CD in my purse when I picked up the car, so this was finishing up when we started on the road. After seeing them on Thursday, I’m really enjoying this album. A lot.

I found a blog linking to mine, specifically about the whole BoH bullshit that happened last year. I’m not gonna link back, but he called me an “arrogant myspacer” even though he linked to my site and not my MySpace.
He goes on to complain about people taking photos at shows and says,”Then again, I’m guilty of plenty of concert photography myself and, photo pass or not, the lines are thinly drawn between reporters, bloggers and (assuming they exist anymore) actual fans”…”but I’m also typically shooting for a blog with a thousand or so readers with a relatively impressive camera.”
Is he for real? We’re all doing the same thing, Stupid.

Saturday morning I woke up and tried to get my house together before Abraham, Erik, and others headed over. We had decided at the last minute to BBQ at my my house before Team Abraham’s set at the Ken Club at 4. By 1, a few people were over and we got the booze and food flowing early and never really stopped. It was a beautiful day in San Diego, and my only regret is that we didn’t really have the chance to experience much of the festival because we were hanging in my backyard all afternoon. That was fine though, and sometimes the perfect day in and of itself. We hung out, kicked the soccer ball around for a while, and absorbed the sunshine.

This is Adam Rosen on the right…he was one of the main organizers of Art Around Adams. Props to him for bringing it together.

Wow…what an awesome weekend. Got to see Calico Horse, The Donkeys and Swim Party at the Casbah on Friday, then we had the all day BBQ in Kensington on Saturday, followed by me selling merch for The Ting-Tings who have been blowing my mind all weekend with their CD. All that lead to Sunday where I spent all day at Indy Jam, followed with The Sess at the Casbah and then Abraham and I hung out with MgmT at their hotel for a bit. Such a great weekend and I have so much to write and so many pictures to post but honestly, all I want to do at this second is go back to sleep. I am sooo glad I used one of my “summer days” today. Anyone else’s thighs still burning from all those stairs at Devore Stadium?

Today is Awesome

My friends are at my house gearing up for Art Around Adams (which started an hour and a half ago) and we had the grill going, lots of beer flowing and after listening to The Ting Tings CD 4 times over, they busted out their guitars. This is my favorite weather, about 74 degrees with a nice breeze and I gotta say it is a fucking awesome day.
Daniel is gonna be pissed that I’m posting this, but whatever, we’ll go kick the soccer ball around some more and he’ll get over it…I was giving Jeff a youtube tutorial and here’s the result.

Most important is that I’m happier today than I have been in a long while. Yay.

I know my readers have come to check my site mostly for my listings and occasionally my news and recaps, but my family reads my site, too, and as such, I still like to get a little personal here. Nichole grew up on my block- we used to play house together, walk to school together, and are lucky enough to have maintained our friendship over the years. She met Aaron in a photography class, and after nine years of dating, they finally (!) tied the not over the weekend. The wedding was at her parent’s house in Yucaipa and the reception followed in Redlands. My whole family (minus my bro who is in Iraq) made the trip up to the Inland Empire; my mom and dad, sister, God-sister, brother in law, niece, and my cousin came out from LA. I have a lot of catching up to do with everything I did over the past few nights.
Like Thursday night, after seeing Ghostland Observatory, I saw The Long and Short of It at Bar Pink Elephant.

Friday, I went to X-fest (but only stayed for MGMT and Jimmy Eat World). Below, MGMT.

After X-Fest, I went to see Lucy’s Fur Coat at the Casbah.

Saturday and Sunday I was in the Inland Empire for a wedding. This is my mom, my cousin, my niece and my God-sister.

And there was Sunday night at the House of Blues for The Morning Benders and The Kooks followed by Jesse Nova at The Bitter End, but I didn’t bring my camera cord, so no preview of those pics. I’ll try to get these up when I can find the time.
